Please someone help me identify the 1cm long micro-aquatic slug-like organism living in my freshwater tank!?

This small creature seems more like a single-cell organism. It can propel itself by either moving like a snail, or like an inchworm. It has a long, thin snout, and when traveling downwards looks like a cobra. It is semi-translucent. The aquarium lives iin a one gallon plastic type that is used as a “snail jail” and usually ignored. Photo at:

That looks like a planaria to me. I think I can make out two “eye spots” near the “head” of the animal. No doubt you can tell much better in person than I can in just a photo. See if this is your creature:

Planaria are harmless and often fish food for larger fishes. If you see one there may well be many more hiding in the gravel. You should do a good gravel cleaning to rid the tank of them. While they are harmless, if they should all die suddenly it could produce enough ammonia to harm your fish.
