Secret morse code type of thing?
So my friend wrote me this note, and I’ve been trying to figure it out. Can someone tell me what it says or has a link to a key for this? What kind of code is this called anyways?

thank you!
I forget what it’s called but it goes like this:
You make a tic-tac-toe # board and fill in the first nine letters of the alphabet. Each letter gets the shape around it. “C” gets a shape like an “L” (because it’s in the upper right corner), “E” gets a square (because it’s in the center), etc.
Make a second grid for “J” through “R”. Each of these letters get the shape with one dot added. “N” is a square with a dot in the center.
The rest of the letters go in a third grid. “W” is a square with two dots.
If you want to make it harder to crack, you can fill in the grids in a different order: reverse alphabetical, or going top-to-bottom first (so “G” is the L-shaped one), or alphabetical starting with a different letter, or filling the grids in with some pangram like “Jackdaws love my big sphinx of quartz” (for this last you’ll need a fourth grid).

Information $127.32 Whether TV shows or cell phone and internet traffic, whether encoded in the radio waves that fill the atmosphere or coursing through wires of copper and glass, information, in its electronic form, surrounds us. And equally copious to this is the realm of physical information, that which mediates between reality and our understanding of it. Our senses record and interpret it; our brains manipulate and process it; our genes pass it from one generation to the next; and the need to share it is an attribute common to every member of the animal kingdom. But what actually is information? Can it be analyzed and measured? Why, if information is such an essential ingredient of the world around us, is it not yet part of the vocabulary of physical science? In this exciting, enlightening, and extraordinary book, Hans Christian von Baeyer addresses these and many other questions, revealing how the concept of information can cast light on principles as diverse as thermodynamics in physics and heredity in biology. For, despite its shadowy, paradoxical, and subjective nature, this is a concept of unarguable importance and power, one that could soon become just as central to science as space, time, mass, or energy – if not more so.With a narrative marked out by its clarity and sheer readability, von Baeyer takes us from the roots of the theory through to the coal-face of modern physics and beyond, deftly unpicking the many strands that knit information so tightly into the fabric of the universe. Along the way, he illuminates topics from gaming theory and probability through to black holes, the history of Morse Code, the future of computing and the role of philosophy in contemporary physics – all whileunderlining this emergent and rapidly developing field as the key to a fundamental new scientific language. |

The Innovators $32.5 Enter the workshops of America’s early engineering geniuses and discover how they came up with their ideas and applied them to the marketplace. David Billington, acclaimed author of The Tower and the Bridge, reveals the strokes of brilliance behind such landmark developments as the steamboat, electric power, and the rise of the iron and steel industry. He explains each major innovation through the story of the remarkable new engineering formulas that made it possible, showing that one key to engineering progress is the discovery of fundamental relationships in the physical world. He also explores the political and social conditions that allowed these brilliant individuals to implement their ideas, and the sweeping changes that followed in their wake. Who were the innovators? Some are legendary: Robert Fulton, inventor of the steamboat; Samuel Morse, inventor of the telegraph; and Thomas Edison, inventor of the incandescent lightbulb. Others are not as well known, however, and readers will be introduced to many whose contributions, if not their names, have stood the test of time: people like J. Edgar Thompson, who built the Pennsylvania Railroad; and Thomas Telford, who revolutionized largescale bridge building and design. |
